Art Classes for Children & Teens
Preschool Art Adventures Ages 3-5 The focus is on fun and self-discovery
when preschoolers learn how to draw using basic shapes. Inspired by nature and by
their favorite books, they’ll explore paper maché, clay, watercolors and tempera. The
class fosters the development of small motor skills and observation while encouraging the
expression of each child’s unique creativity in a class with a low teacher/student ratio.
Students can join class at any time on a pro-rated basis, space permitting.
Tuesday 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Children from Shady Grove's Preschool are walked to class at The Center building.
Children eat lunch while listening to a story and then embark on their art adventure!
(Please pack a peanut-free lunch.)
$128.25/9 week session. September - May. Instructor: Sue Brown
The Young Artists’ Atelier enables students to develop their drawing and
painting skills while exploring art from around the world. These fun classes also include
mosaics, clay, and paper maché. Small class size ensures each child receives personal
attention and is encouraged to develop his or her unique abilities. September - June.
Ages 5-10: Tues.or Thurs. 4:00-5:00 pm, or Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 pm.
Ages 10+ Wed. 5:30-6:30 pm. $128.25/9 week session. Instructor: Sue Brown
Students can join at any time, space permitting.
Cartooning Class Create your own cartoons – learn how to draw your characters
in action poses and how to draw the background scenery in perspective. Learn about
shadows and accent lines! September - June.
Ages 8+ Monday 4:00-5:00pm $128.25/9 weeks. Instructor: Sue Brown
Students can join at any time, space permitting.
Teen Studio Art Classes geared toward middle and high school students
provide students with an opportunity to choose projects and refine their skills in shading
and color mixing in drawing, watercolors, oil pastels and acrylics.
Tuesday 6:30-7:30 pm $153/9 weeks. Instructor: Crystal Proffitt
