Chess
Chess Class - Ages 5+
Learn to play one of the world’s oldest and most challenging games—chess. Discover
strategies that build a strong chess foundation, one piece at a time in a fun class! Students
will be grouped according to ability. Chess teaches discipline, responsibility, critical
thinking and problem solving skills. Students will be paired according to their age and
ability.
Players will also learn
• How to move the pieces
• Different strategies & tactics
• How to make most out their opportunities
• How to turn bad situation to their advantage
• How to accept setbacks and win/loose graciously
Classes are designed to teach chess in a fun and interesting way appropriate for young
minds. Classes will be conducted by Mrs. Parul Shah who has great enthusiasm and
experience. Mrs. Shah also teaches chess at Collegiate, Richmond Montessori and
Three Chopt Elementary School.
Wednesdays, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Tuition: $120/ 8 week session.
This is an ongoing class that can be joined at any time. New Students may enroll anytime
on a pro-rated basis!
Private Chess Lessons Available! Mrs. Shah is available for a limited number of 45
minute private chess lessons on Mondays at The Center. Tuition is $30. Available times
are 6:30 p.m., and 7:15 p.m. Call to register.
