The Center for Creative Arts, located in Richmond's West End, offers popular elementary art camps featuring small class sizes that focus on individual creativity as children explore art, and make new friends. Camps are taught by professional artists in a nurturing environment. Send a nut-free snack and a water bottle from home!

Mixed Media Landscapes!
June 8-12
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Instructor: Sherri Smith
In this exciting camp, artists will create Landscapes using several painting, collage and printmaking techniques. They will study and be inspired by many famous landscape artists such as Van Gogh, Hockney, Monet, Hokusai, Gaugin, Moran and others. Campers will use a variety of tools and materials. They will explore tempera, watercolor, ink, marker and other media to complete their works of art.

Magic Garden Art!
June 15-19
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Step into a world of wonder as we create our own Magic Garden Art. Young artists will explore a variety of whimsical projects including water color bouquets, fluttering dragon flies, humming bird sun catchers, and charming garden houses.This camp is designed for artists who love nature, sparkle and creative adventures.

Architecture Around the World!
June 22-26
1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (note afternoon camp!)

Campers will view and study examples of famous architecture in countries around the globe! They will study Asian temples, the Taj Mahal in India, Victorian houses, Colonial Architecture, Ancient Greek Temples, and contemporary examples from Chicago. Campers will draw, paint, print, construct with cardboard and complete collages to produce two dimensional and three-dimensional works of art.

The World of Harry Potter
June 29 - July 3

Come bring to life the magical story of Harry and friends as we learn to paint characters, create a mixed-media of Diagon Alley, draw a pastel moonlit Hogwarts, design our own wands and more!

Glow in the Dark Art!
July 6-10

Step into the magical world where art lights up! In this electrifying Glow in the Dark Art Camp, kids will explore neon paints, fluorescent materials, and black-light effects to create artwork that shines, shimmers and glows. Campers will paint swirling, Starry Night landscapes, design glowing planets, create fluorescent sea turtles and pastel puffer fish. Students will enjoy experimenting with a variety of materials that will put their artwork in the spotlight!

Go Wild!
July 13-17

We will learn about our wild outdoors as we explore art techniques! Paint a landscape in acrylics, a bird's nest with eggs in pastels, design a mixed-media floral arrangement, a special rock painting project and more!

Treats & Sweets Art Camp
July 20-24

Our Treats and Sweets Art Camp invites young artists to playfully explore the delicious world of food through art. Students will create an acrylic painting of adorable kawaii snacks, design a landscape made from desserts, paper-mâché giant donuts, and sculpt a s’mores-themed tic-tac-toe board. We’ll also explore playful printmaking using real vegetables, giving kids a mix of creativity, color, and hands-on fun.

Mythical Creatures Camp!
July 27-31

Our Mythical Creatures Camp invites young artists to explore a world filled with magic, wonder, and legendary beings. Throughout the week, students will create a painting of a charming gnome, sculpt their own baby dragons from clay, create a fun unicorn pop-up craft, design glowing mermaid or kraken lanterns, and draw the mysterious Loch Ness Monster. This camp inspires creativity, storytelling, and joyful artistic confidence as kids bring their favorite mythical creatures to life.
