2024 Elementary Art Camps

The Center for Creative Arts, located in Richmond's West End, offers popular elementary art camps featuring small class sizes that focus on individual creativity as children explore art, and make new friends. Camps are taught by professional artists in a nurturing environment. Send a nut-free snack and a water bottle from home!  

Class size will be limited to 14 - register early to reserve your spot! Spaces are secured by time-stamped receipt of the Online Registration form below:

Paint Like a Famous Artist! FULL!

June 17-21

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.


Learn about famous artists from around the world, and paint in their styles using a variety of media including tempera, watercolor and mixed media.  Make paintings inspired by Van Gogh, Mondrian, Warhol, Alma Thomas, Romare Bearden, Cezanne and others!

Learn to make decorative papers to create a Picasso collage cat, paint an abstract in acrylics, make a geometric clay wall hanging, blow painting bookmarks, and create a mandala dot painting!

Draw Mario & Toad in colored pencils, make a pop art portrait of Spider Man!  Create your own cartoon character out of Sculpty and design your own cartoon strip! Learn to draw your favorite animated character!

Come for creative fun as we learn about different animals!  Paint a folk art fox, design and sew an owl, draw a bunny with pastels, and make a paper mâché bird sculpture.

Explore fiber arts, appliqué, & printmaking! Inspired by beadwork from many cultures, students will use polymer clay to create beaded jewelry, and make a bead weaving. Learn about Gyotaku, the art of Japanese fish rubbings, and make a beautiful fish print with real fish!!

Create a Southwestern cactus rock garden, learn Asian sumi-e painting, create a French-inspired house with cardboard, and paint an Australian parrot in pastel!

Explore the habitat of endangered species & create a Sumatran Elephant or a Javan Rhino out of clay.  Draw a Snow Leopard & a Red Panda in colored pencils.  Paint a Gibbon, and YOUR favorite endangered animal!

Draw a cheetah in the jungle, and a monkey hanging from a banana tree!  Paint surfboards in the sand, and sailboats in the sea.  Design a travel poster for Hawaii!
