Session II: July 21-25
LEGOS & ROBOTS! Learn how to build and design robots using the LEGO Spike Prime system and program them with a drag-and-drop coding language based on Scratch called Word Blocks.
Students will learn basic robotic design, engineering, and programming principles. Teamwork skills will be emphasized as the students work together in small groups to design, build, and program robots to complete challenges. No previous experience required.
Center Robotics camps are taught by Ellen O'Leary, and Cheryl Kaplan, mentors of the amazing Blue Cheese Robotics Team from Deep Run, and The Mech Tech Dragons from Maggie Walker. Team members join our camps as youth counselors. This year both teams competed in Houston at the First Robotics Competition World Championships where the Blue Cheese Team won the prestigious Judges Award, and The Mech Tech Dragons were Division Finalists and lost to the eventual winner of the event. The Maggie Walker team ended this season ranked 14th in the world! We are so proud of these teams, and grateful for their dedication to sharing their passion for Robotics at The Center. Here is also a video about The Mech Tech Dragons and their outreach throughout the community: https://youtu.be/wThMalVEFsw?si=FqUYtLZir7F4Q_O-lker.
