ABOUT​
Tom Anderson received both his Bachelor of Arts in music and a Master’s in Composition and Music Theory from Virginia Commonwealth University, and did graduate studies at Eastman. He has been an active instructor, performer, music arranger, and composer for the past 35 years. Tom has performed with Sarah Vaughn, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and The Temptations! As a brass coach and clinician, he has worked with middle and high school brass selections throughout the area. In 2004, Tom was named Henrico County’s Music Educator of the Year. When he retired in 2011, Tom received the Gilman Teacher's Award 2011 from Glen Allen Elementary, and was named Glen Allen Teacher of the Year for 2011. Tom currently performs with Spectrum, The New Virginians (A Guy Lombardo cover band), The Tijuana Brass Players, and The Inside Out Band.
Tom currently has a trombone & a trumpet that he is willing to lend to an interested student who may want to try it out before
purchasing an instrument. Call for more information.
Jazz Improvisation for Brass: Private Lessons
Mr. Anderson also offers instruction for jazz improvisation, music theory, arranging and composition. Students should have at least one year of experience on their selected instrument, and basic knowledge of scales. Instruments include trombone, trumpet, french horn, and tuba.
