Violaine Michel

    Violin + Suzuki Violin

ABOUT

Violin teacher and performer Violaine Michel studied violin in her native France and graduated from the National Conservatory of Caen (Normandy) and the Ecole Normale de Musique of Paris. While pursuing her education under the tutelage of renowned violinists Catherine Courtois, Régis Pasquier and Alexandre Brussilovsky, she became a member of the Caen Orchestra and joined the Conservatory of Caen as adjunct faculty. Her desire for new opportunities brought her to Montreal, Canada, where she joined several orchestras among which the Metropolitan Orchestra of Montreal under Yannick Nézet-Séguin. She now lives in Richmond where she enjoys taking part in the musical life of the city. She regularly gives recitals and plays with Classical Revolution RVA. She is a member of the Roanoke Symphony and a substitute with the Virginia Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Virginia Opera and Opera on the James.

As important as performing is in her life, she would not feel complete if she could not share her passion and curiosity for music with her students. She has taught for 30 years, in music schools or privately, in Europe and Northern America, always looking for ways to bring more joy to her teaching and build meaningful connections with her students. She is also certified as a Suzuki instructor.
