Children's Art Classes

       September - May

The professional artists teaching at The Center focus on providing individualized attention to each student in a nurturing environment.  Group instruction is noted for the small class size that enables each student to develop his or her unique talents. Students may join our classes at any time, space permitting.  Video Art Lessons, and Zoom Room classes are great for individual families, home school students, and learning pods!

Due to the restrictions on our community at the current time - all art classes are being offered via online video lessons, or as interactive live zoom room classes.  Art demonstration videos are sent to students each week that they can view through a Dropbox link on a laptop, phone, or tablet, whenever they like. Using materials they have at home students have created beautiful work this year including magnolia blossoms, red pandas, kittens in trees, robins in a nest with eggs, cherry blossoms at the Washington Monument and more.  Families send cell phone photos of the finished art for feedback and to put on our virtual bulletin board.  These fun video lessons can be done at anytime during the week, and are designed for children to create independently.

Interactive class students meet in our zoom room where the teacher guides them in each art project, and they enjoy virtual visits with their friends while they have fun creating!  As always, Center classes are tailored to the development of each individual student in a nurturing, non-competitive class. During this time of social isolation, live zoom room classes allow students to interact with each other while providing a creative place for self-expression that builds confidence and makes kids feel good.   Students can enroll on a pro-rated basis at any time if there is room in the class.  Virtual zoom classes have a small student/teacher ratio as they do when we are on-campus.

Preschool Art Adventures

Ages 3-5 | Tuesdays: 12pm-1pm

Instructor: Sue Brown

Our Preschool Art Adventures class focuses on fun and self-discovery where preschoolers learn how to draw using basic shapes.  Inspired by nature and their favorite books, children are sent an age-appropriate art lesson video that they can watch and follow along with at any time during the week.  Children can pause or rewind the video at will, and add color with colored pencils, markers, or  watercolors. The class fosters the development of small motor skills and observation while encouraging the expression of each child’s unique creativity.  Families email cell phone photos to the instructor for feedback!  Students can join class at any time on a pro-rated basis, space permitting.

The Young Artist's Atelier enables students to develop their drawing and painting skills while exploring art from around the world.  Small class size ensures each child receives personal attention and is encouraged to develop his or her unique abilities. Student choice in subject matter enables personal connections to the lessons.  Two options are available - weekly lessons via videos, and interactive zoom classes.

Art videos are tailored for each age group and can be watched anytime during the week.  Photos are sent to the instructor for feedback.  The flexibility of the videos is a great option for busy families, homeschool, and learning pod groups.

Live zoom classes will also retain the small teacher/student ratio and focus on the individual student that Center Art classes are known for. Students meet in our zoom room where the teacher guides them in each art project, and they enjoy virtual visits with their friends while they have fun creating!  As always, Center classes are tailored to the development of each individual student in a nurturing, non-competitive class.  If a student misses a zoom class, they can request an art video lesson.
