Do you want to build a snowman? You’ll love this fanciful and heartwarming stage adaptation of the top-grossing animated film of all time! Join Anna, Elsa, and all of your favorite characters as they embark on an epic, ice-filled journey of self-discovery, camaraderie, and the real meaning of true love. Adapted for young performers, this musical includes favorite Frozen songs such as “Love Is an Open Door,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” and “Let It Go,” as well as wonderful new songs from the Broadway production. With its empowering message of love and understanding, Frozen JR. is sure to melt your heart!
We are thrilled to be back on stage this summer with several important mitigation measures. The cast number is capped at 35 campers and the stage area remains increased to allow for distancing between performers. We will be using air purifiers on the stage throughout the week and our costume checks will be virtual. Campers are also welcome to mask during camp and the performance if they prefer to do so.
Because of the limited cast size camps will fill up quickly. Please email us to inquire about your preferred week. Registrations will not be confirmed until payment and Camp Enrollment forms have been received. Registration forms and payment can be mailed to The Center for Creative Arts, 4825 Pouncey Tract Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059, or dropped off in the Center Office in the Chapel building Monday-Thursday from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m., and Fridays from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Registration is taken on a first-come basis.
Directed by Erin Franklin, every child will be on stage for most of the musical! Celebrating the 13th anniversary of musical theater camps sponsored by The Center for Creative Arts, each camp ends with a full evening production on the last day of camp. Children develop self-confidence on-stage in this action-packed camp! Snacks, T-shirt, & book included. Bring a water bottle and a peanut-free lunch.
Our Director Erin Franklin has more than three decades of experience in both performance and music education. Growing up right here in Henrico County, she was part of several church youth choirs and summer musical camps and was a member of the select ensembles “Sounds” and “Novettes” while attending J.R. Tucker High School. During her time at Longwood University she studied voice and piano performance and was a part of the “Camerata Singers” and Longwood’s Wind Symphony. After graduating with her Bachelor’s of Music degree she began teaching elementary music at Pinchbeck Elementary. During her 20 years in Henrico County Public Schools, she has directed hundreds of performances, achieved National Board Certification, been named Teacher of the Year at both Pinchbeck and Echo Lake E.S, where she’s been teaching since 2011. Most recently she was named Henrico Music Teacher of the Year in 2020. She was excited to be part of The Center's production of Mary Poppins Jr last summer as the Assistant Director, and is thrilled to be directing this year's performances of Disney's Frozen Jr.

While all children will be assigned a role and be onstage almost the entire time as part of the chorus, auditions are required to obtain speaking or singing solos. Register before April 1 to be guaranteed an audition time.
After you have registered and paid in full for the camp, you will receive two links: 1) A Sign-Up Genius link to schedule your audition date and time, and 2) Audition Choices Packet including the drama and solo singing parts that your child will use during the audition, and an audio of all songs in the musical that your child will use to prepare for both the audition and the week of camp. The Audition Packet will include choices for a drama reading and a song for both girls and boys. Please note that memorization of drama and song choices are very important for a great audition!
Please fill out the Supplemental Musical Registration Form as well as the regular Registration Form, Medical Release Form, and Camp Enrollment Form. You can indicate your child's T-shirt size, audition date preference on the Musical Supplemental Enrollment Form.
Due to the busy audition schedule, and to ensure every child has a chance to audition, please do not change your audition date on Sign-up Genius after April 15. If you have a conflict with the day you have signed up on, please contact us by email!
